Emily and Ben’s Fairmont Miramar Wedding
An Unusual Beginning
I sighed and muttered to myself “Are you kidding me?” as I sat on the 10 freeway going towards Santa Monica. It was going to take me considerably longer than normal to get to the Fairmont Miramar because of 3 separate traffic accidents along the way! I texted Emily’s friend, Evette that I was running a few minutes behind schedule. Evette texted back “She said you ruined her wedding.” My heart sank and I did a double take to make sure I didn’t read the text wrong. As I re-read it, Evette texted again “Lol Jk, she told me to say that!” That’s when I knew that this was going to be a fun wedding with an awesome bride!
An Intimate & Merry Wedding
Emily and Ben had already officially tied the knot, but they wanted to celebrate their marriage with the people they cared most about. So they held their intimate wedding at the Fairmont Miramar with around 25 of their closest family and friends on what turned out to be a beautiful sunny day! The entire day felt very relaxed and natural, I’m sure due in part to already being husband and wife. There wasn’t much to be nervous about and everyone could just enjoy the celebration!
Why The Fairmont Miramar?
Emily and Ben loved the Old Hollywood Glam feel of the Fairmont Miramar and they wanted to pair that feel with a whimsical pink, orange, and butterfly theme. One of the things that I love about the Fairmont is how versatile it is. I’ve also photographed a Hindu wedding and a Jewish-Persian wedding at the Fairmont and each time it has suited the wedding perfectly! The 100+ year old fig tree in front of the hotel is both beautiful and iconic. Plus the location overlooking the beach in Santa Monica is hard to beat!
My Favorite Part Of The Day
I particularly enjoyed the second half of Emily and Ben’s reception when they moved into the Jones Library for dancing and cake cutting. Emily’s father/daughter dance was a really special and heartfelt moment that was full of love and joy! And the blue walls of the library were a refreshing change from the typical white, beige, or brown of many reception rooms.
